Big Lottery Fund cash will bring Rayners Lane housing estate community together
Lottery cash is being used to pay for a series of community events aimed at bringing the young and old at a Harrow housing estate together.
The £300,000 donation from the Big Lottery Fund will be used over three years by housing provider Home Group to put on various events in the Rayners Lane area.
Home Group is in the process of a major regeneration in the area, in which 800 new homes will be built.
The cash will pay for the In The Mix project, which will employ two full-time staff to engage with residents of the estate.
Activities will include fairs, bowls, table tennis, bingo and educational visits.
Christian Longdon, a Home Group manager, said “Apart from providing homes for people we also want to build a strong and vibrant neighbourhood where there is a real sense of community.
“The In The Mix project will work with both young and old to provide them with community activities which are relevant to their age groups but also crucially bring them together at joint events.”
