Harrow magistrates court to become day centre
A former magistrates court could become a day centre, if plans are approved.
Proposals were submitted to Harrow Borough Council this week to turn Harrow Magistrates Court, in Rosslyn Crescent, into a day centre.
The court was sold by the Ministry of Justice in 2012 and legal proceedings had not been carried out at the building since a year earlier.
The building had been used as the magistrates court house since the mid-1930s until its closure in 2011.
It was closed by the Government as part of cost cutting measures across the justice sector which led to outrage in the community and Harrow Council launching an online petition to save it from closure.
Since the changes, magistrates court cases are now heard at either Brent Magistrates Court, in Willesden, or Hendon Magistrates Court.
