Consultation launched on Stanmore early hours alcohol restriction
People living around a Harrow town centre can have their say about plans to restrict the sale of alcohol over Christmas.
Harrow Borough Council has launched a consultation on plans for an early morning restriction order for Stanmore.
The order would prevent bars and supermarkets in Stanmore from selling alcohol after 2am between November and January.
Police decided to draw up the plans following a large number of complaints about noise, fighting, and drunken behaviour from people living in the area last Christmas and New Year.
The council will now talk to businesses and residents as well as part of a statutory consultation.
The order would affect up to 21 licensed premises in the area, including pubs and supermarkets, for the area surrounding the junction of Stanmore Hill, Church Road and London Road.
Those interested in sharing their views about the proposed early-hours restriction can download a form by clicking here and sending it to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to Harrow Council Licensing Service, PO Box 18, Civic Centre, Harrow, HA1 2UT.
It is hoped the proposals and results of the consultation will be heard at a licensing committee hearing on October 10, and the order could be placed at a meeting on November 14.
