Harrow Borough Council to hear Metropolitan Police plans for early-hours drinking ban over Christmas period in Stanmore
Early-hours drinking in Stanmore could be banned over the Christmas period.
The Metropolitan Police has applied for a restriction on bars and supermarkets that would prevent them selling alcohol after 2am between November and January.
The force applied for special licence restrictions in an area near Stanmore tube station following complaints of customer noise, fights and drunken behaviour during the festive period last year.
Harrow Council will look at enforcing an early morning restriction order in an area surrounding the junction of Stanmore Hill, Church Road and London Road.
The restrictions would prevent 21 licensed premises in the area, including pubs and supermarkets, from selling alcohol after 2am.
A special meeting of the council’s licensing committee will take place at the Harrow Civic Offices on Tuesday from 7.30pm.
