Ellie Simmonds joined the children at Vaughan Primary School
Paralympic gold medalist Ellie Simmonds joined pupils at Vaughan Primary School yesterday morning to encourage them to play sports.
The London 2012 Paralympics swimming champion answered questions from the children before taking part in a PE lesson with 60 children.
She worked with the children on David Beckham’s One-Minute Challenges with the pupils to get them more enthused about sport and a healthy lifestyle.
Retired England rugby player Matt Dawson was also at the school to join in the lesson.
Headteacher Andrew Griffin said: “The day was absolutely fantastic.
“The children had a really great range of questions about her sport and how she had coped with the fame after the Paralympics.
“They were almost overwhelmed to have such a famous name in front of them – and last year we had David Beckham come.”
