A CELEBRITY donation was a Mitzvah Day hightlight for two young volunteers in Hampstead.
Jacob Stanton, 8, and his brother Jonah, 6, of Mill Hill, were doing some volunteering work for Mitzvah Day at Tesco, Hampstead, when they bumped into former X Factor contestant Katie Waissel.
The brothers were collecting donations of non-perishable items for a Jewish Community Centre for London project, where goods are to be donated to asylum seekers, when they made the star sighting.
Katie, who donated items to the collection at Tesco in Hampstead said she was “glad to do her bit for Mitzvah Day.”
In all volunteers collected £675 worth of non-perishable items and cash donations of £131.
Jonah said: “It was really nice that people stopped to listen to us asking for food and then went and bought it.”
Jacob added: “It was good to get food for people who don’t have enough.”
