Young and old unite to clean up field for Mitzvah Day in Radlett

FAITHS combined for the common purpose of completing a good deed for a Mitzvah Day event in Radlett.

Almost 100 people living in Radlett and the surrounding areas cut, dug and pruned their way through brambles and undergrowth to clean up a woodland and picnic area in the Rose Field, near the Tabard Rugby Club, in Radlett, on Sunday.

The event was attended by Hertsmere MP James Clappison, who was joined by Ron Worthy, chairman of Aldenham Parish Council and hindu representative from Bhaktivedanta Manor, in Aldenham, Sita Rama das.

Also in attendance were Reverend William Hogg, from Christ Church, in Radlett, Reverend Maureen Taylor, representing Christ Church and St John’s Church, in Radlett, and Rabbi David Mitchell, from Radlett and Bushey Reform Synagogue, in Watling Street, Radlett.

All volunteers were rewarded with tea and strawberry jam and cream scones served by all the faith groups at the reform synagogue.

Mr Clappison said: “A big thanks to everyone involved. "This is a wonderful project and a good example to others."

Rabbi Mitchell said “This Mitzvah Day event has been a great testament to the people of Radlett, young and old alike, who gave of their time for the benefit of all in the spirit of true communal friendship.”
