Teachers vsstudents competitions, cake sales and non-uniform days are just some of the ideas to raise money for a quiz to find Harrow's cleverest school.

Bentley Wood High is one of the six schools from across the borough to take part in the MasterMind competition, run by mental health charity Mind in Harrow in partnership with the Harrow Times.

The school’s three teams of four Year 9 pupils have been sharing their thoughts on the competition and how they plan raise £400 for the charity to enter the contest.

Acting head of year nine Rachel Wigglesworth said: “Our students often create innovative and exciting ways to raise funds for a variety of local and national charities.

“We believe that in entering the Harrow MasterMind competition we have the perfect opportunity to demonstrate our students' intellectual prowess whilst supporting the fantastic of Mind.

“I am very proud of our teams and wish them all the best of luck but I know they won’t need it- they are superstar geniuses.”

Bentley Wood’s Team Amazing, Team Awesome and Team Brilliant will be battling it out against teams from Hatch End High School, Harrow School, Sacred Heart, John Lyon School and North London Collegiate School.

Naima Omer, 14, from Team Brilliant said: “We are doing this because it is a great cause. It helps people with mental health problems and we would love to help.

“It also helps us by boosting our knowledge and improves our confidence. It’s really good for our future as well and inspires others to help.”

All the teams have been bruising up on their general knowledge for the quick fire ‘University Challenge’ quiz early next year.

As well as an prize of the winner of the competition but there will also be awards for the most money raised by a team and for the most interesting fundraising method.
