TWO dogs have been left seriously ill after eating meat deliberately laced with poison and pins and left in Canons Park.

A labrador needed emergency surgery yesterday to remove 67 embroidery pins after eating a slab of meat which had been tampered with.

The dog was rushed to a vets at around 5pm, and the police began to investigate.

Another dog was seriously ill three days ago after eating meat covering in poison, again left in Canons Park.

The local police team are investigating the incidents, and have already found one more piece of meat in the park deliberately filled with pins.

Officers are hunting for a slim Asian man in his 20s, often wearing a tracksuit, who has been verbally abusing dog owners in the park. They want to question him about the meat attacks.

Signs are now being put up around the park warning dog owners of the dangers and to be on the looking out for the suspect.
