Children at an Edgware special school held a graduation ceremony this morning to mark their achievements as they prepare to switch schools.

Pupils at Woodlands School in Bransgrove Road received a certificate from headteacher John Feltham and an embrace from the Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Nizam Ismail.

The ceremony is part of the school’s efforts to make the move to secondary school smoother for the children, some of whom have multiple learning disabilities.

Mr Feltham said: “We think it’s important to take a little bit of time to think about the students’ time at Woodlands and reflect as they make their transition to secondary education.

“The Mayor was fantastic and it really dignifies the ceremony for the parents, in what can be quite an anxious time, especially when children have special needs.”
