Met office issues amber weather warning for London today

Forecasters issued an amber weather warning for London and the South East of England as heavy rainfall is set to strike.

More than one month’s rain is expected to fall in parts of the UK over the next two days, prompting the Met Office to advise people to prepare for the possibility of flooding.

There may also be travel problems today as a result of the unseasonal weather.

Nearly four inches of rain could fall in 36 hours during the downpours, but the average rainfall for July is just under three inches.

The rain across central England, East Anglia and the southeast England should, however, ease later in the day.
