Doctors at Northwick Park Hospital will stage a walk-out tomorrow as the British Medical Association calls its first strike in almost 40 years.

Only emergency patients will be seen while staff take part in the industrial action, prompted by a row over pensions.

People receiving treatments such as chemotherapy and dialysis will not be affected, but others have been warned to only attend the A&E department if they require urgent care.

The hospital in Watford Road, Harrow, says it has had to cancel almost fifty non-urgent appointments as a result of the strike.

Six GP practices across the borough will also only see urgent patients, with the other 35 staying open as normal.
