Students from a school in Harrow, will be showing off their art skills at a shopping centre this Friday.

Teenagers from Nower Hill High School, in George V Avenue, have been given a temporary gallery in the former Hawkins Bazaar, in St Georges Shopping Centre, Harrow, to display their GCSE and A-level artwork.

The project is funded by the money the council won from the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund, to help regenerate high streets.

The Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Mrinal Choudhury, will also be stopping by at the exhibition, which is open to the public from Friday, March 2, to Wednesday, March 28.

Student Erin Corrian-Alexis said: “I think using empty shops exhibit artwork is a great idea – I’d love to see all the shops used in this way.”

Councillor Keith Ferry, portfolio holder for planning and economic development on Harrow Council, said: “Taking every opportunity to improve the appearance of our high streets is vital as we work to revitalise them and attract more shoppers. It’s great pupils from Nower High School are helping turn a vacant shop into a vibrant arts space.”
