Brent pupils get green, thanks to charity

Brent pupils will learn the value of recycling, thanks to workshops organised by an environmental charity.

Pupils from St Josephs School, Chatsworth Avenue, and Preston Park School, Wembley road, will be visited by a team from TRAID, a clothes recycling charity, to learn more about reusing waste.

Lyla Patel, TRAID’s head of education, said: “Schools are a vital space where children and young people can engage in sustainable practices, like reuse and recycling.

"It’s great that we can give support to local schools in Brent to keep sustainability where it should be – high on the curriculum.”

Councillor Mary Arnold, Brent Council's lead member for children and families, said she was committed to encouraging recycling and the reuse of materials and goods.

“This is an excellent project that will help more of our schoolchildren to understand how clothes, fashion and goods are produced and how they can be made more sustainably."
