A man from Kingsbury was arrested this morning after he barricaded himself and a woman in a bedroom and threatened to kill police officers.
Officers from the Welsh Harp Safer Neighbourhoods Team and Brent Council’s mental health team were called to a house, in Wells Drive, after neighbours reported a disturbance.
Police were forced to break into the house after the man, in his early 50s, threatened officers with a knife and locked himself in a bedroom with a woman.
No one was hurt during the incident. The man was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken for assessment and treatment.
Sergeant John Lawrence said officers had been forced to act after “residents were afraid to walk in their own street for fear of being attacked or abused”.
