THE head of the Roman Catholic church in England and Wales visited a Harrow religious organisation in Rayners Lane today.
Archbishop Vincent Nichols visited the Zoroastrian Trust Funds of Europe, based at the Zoroastrian Centre, in Alexandra Avenue, before Interfaith Week starts on Monday.
The organisation celebrated its 150th anniversary last month with a visit from Prince Philip. Last year it had a visit from the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams.
Speaking to the Harrow Times, Archbishop Nichols, said: “I am very pleased to visit as this is my first time to the Zoroastrian Centre. Obviously this is a very significant occasion for the centre celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.
“I’m just delighted to be here and look forward to the evening learning about the Zoroastrian ways and their contributions to society.
“In the faith world, we can sometimes be face to face but like today we can also be side by side.”
Zoroastrianism is one of the world's oldest monotheistic religions, and was founded by the Prophet Zoroaster in ancient Iran around 3,500 years ago.
