SOUTH Harrow pupils used a bit of Christmas spirit to raise money for a school in Southeast Asia.

Children from Heathland School, in Eastcote Lane, sang festive songs in the café of Waitrose, in Northolt Road, from 1pm to 2pm, on Friday, and collected cash for their peers at PCF School in the Philippines.

The long term aim is to raise enough money to buy a laptop so pupils from both countries can contact each other over the internet.

Tim Smith, Heathland's music teacher, said: “They've had a great time. They keep telling me which songs they want to sing and I keep telling them the ones we are going to sing.

“We came up on the bus and they seemed to enjoy that as well. It's gone very well. We are going to buy a laptop for the school so they can link up with us.

“We are trying to raise living standards and education standards to better the people out there.”
