THREE men are facing deportation and a Kenton business could be fined up to £40,000 after an immigration raid last week.

Officers from the UK Border Agency arrested four Indian men at Hawk Heating Supplies, in Kenton Road, on Tuesday, May 18, on the back of intelligence.

One has been detained while he waits to be deported while two others have been bailed to allow the Home Office to arrange travel papers so they can be returned to their home country.

The fourth man, aged 25, was charged with possessing a false ID document and was remanded in custody while he waits to stand trial.

The company could now face heavy fines if it is unable to prove it carried out the correct checks on the employees.

Inspector Dick Stratton, of the UK Border Agency, said: “Illegal working is not a victimless crime – it has a serious impact on communities, taking jobs from those who are genuinely allowed to work.

“We are happy to work with businesses to ensure they know what checks have to be done on staff, but those who do break the law will face action.”

Two of the men were arrested for breaching their visa conditions while the other two had overstayed their visas.

Anyone who suspects a business may be breaching immigration law can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
