A DAY of celebration of the role of women in the community was held at a Northwood synagogue.
More than 50 women attended the event at Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue on March 8, where several inspirational women gave speeches to celebrate International Women's Day.
Debbie David, one of the speakers, described the obstacles she had to overcome due to her learning difficulties, and described her role with Mencap improving the lives of people in her situation.
The afternoon concluded with a workshop looking at the meaning of equality, together with a tour of the synagogue and a closer look at the Ark and scrolls.
Meave Darroux, parent support advisor for the Northwood Extended Schools Collaborative, which arranged the day, said: “Today has been truly inspirational.
“The women have not only been inspired by the speakers but have also been given a rare opportunity to meet women from different faiths and backgrounds to share their personal experiences.”
