Harrow student through to public speaking finals

A TEENAGER from Harrow is part of a team which has won through to the regional finals of a public speaking competition. Muska Nizami, 18, was part of the three-strong team from Uxbridge College which triumphed at the latest round of the National Rotary Youth Speaks on Thursday, March 4.

The teenager, of Hawkins Close, Harrow, is studying for her A-Levels at the College, and her team chose “Slang: Backward or Revolutionary” as the topic of their speeches.

The team will now compete against winners from south London, Kent, and West Sussex at the regional finals on Saturday, March 13.

Laraine Smith, principal of Uxbridge College, said: “I am so proud of these students and the way they keep on defeating such incredibly tough opponents.

“It is a real achievement that our fantastic team has come this far with so many independent schools competing along the way.”
