Five minute showers for Wembley residents

RESIDENTS in a street in Wembley are being encouraged to limit the amount of time they spend in the shower to save the environment.

Seventy five people in Stanley Avenue have been given timers to urge them to spend just five minutes in the shower each day.

Irshad Nabee is the resident who is driving the scheme, with the support of Brent Council and Three Valleys Water, and has been talking to his neighbours about way to be more environmentally friendly.

He is hoping the timers will remind people to spend as little time as possible in the shower to conserve energy and save water.

Stanley Avenue has recently been deemed a Green Zone by the council, meaning residents have taken up environmentally-friendly ways of living.

If the whole world had a western meat based diet – we would need 2.5 planets.
10 hectares can feed 2 people a meat diet or up to 60 people a vegetarian diet.
Do you have any idea how much water is used in meat production?
How about over half our water and half our arable land. Having a 5 minute shower to ‘save the environment’ is the daftest thing I have ever heard. Want to save the planet? Become a vegetarian. Here’s another way to save the environment: The world population is going from 6 billion now to 9 billion by 2050. That’s an extra 1.5million people EVERY week. Want to save the planet? Don’t breed like rabbits
