A POLITICAL party is calling for a charge on plastic bags at supermarkets.
Labour councillors want to see Harrow become a more environmentally friendly borough, with less packaging on food in shops and paper bags instead of plastic ones.
Councillor Phillip O'Dell, deputy leader of the Labour Group, said: “For a start we could use far more paper bags as they do in North America and also charge for all plastic bags.”
He said he wanted to work with environmental groups like Friends of the Earth.
