Survey: Harrow MPs would lose

THE largest ever study of marginal seats has predicted defeat for both Harrow’s Labour MPs.

A poll, carried out for PoliticsHome.com, suggests Gareth Thomas, Harrow West, and Tony McNulty, Harrow East, would lose to Tory rivals Rachel Joyce and Bob Blackman if a general election were called today.

They are among dozens of Labour politicians expected to face the axe in a wipeout big enough to mirror the defeat of the Conservatives in 1997.

The survey asked almost 35,000 people across 238 marginal constituencies how they would vote, and the results forecast a dramatic collapse for the party across much of the southeast.

If it is accurate, eight ministers will be among those to go and David Cameron will oust Gordon Brown as Prime Minister, with a 146 seat majority.

The news follows mounting pressure for a leadership contest from a number of MPs, including Barry Gardiner, Brent North, who resigned as envoy for forestry.

Neither of Harrow’s MPs have broken ranks and Mr Thomas last week gave Mr Brown his backing, while at the same time saying Labour needed to “raise its game”.

This is great news. Britain needs a change of government because quite simply - Noolabour is destroying the economy. The damage is so severe even I have been surprised at the extent of Noolabour incompetence.

The total tax burden has risen by 51% in real terms (during the so-called ‘good’ years) under noolabour and with the recession the forecast is for increased taxes and public sector borrowing exceeding £100billion. This will wreck the UK. Gordy won’t jump and the wimps in Noolabour won’t push him
