A PRESTIGIOUS public school has been rocked by a drug scandal involving a top student at the start of the new year.

The head boy of Harrow School, in High Street, has been forced out after being caught with cocaine during the summer holidays.

The 17-year-old was due to take over the prestigious role this September, but the school has now promoted his deputy to the post.

Harrow headmaster Barnaby Lenon said the teen's parents decided to withdraw their son from the £25,000-a-year school.

He said: “We were made aware of a situation by the pupil’s parents, who took the decision to withdraw him from the school.

“It’s a sad day for all concerned, but in light of the school’s zero tolerance drug policy, we feel it’s the right decision.”
