A group of local businesses is hoping to drum up community spirit by encouraging as many people as possible to attend a festive celebration.

The Kenton Traders’ Association is hosting a festive lights ‘switch on’ along Kenton Road on October 18 to celebrate the upcoming celebrations over autumn and winter.

Schools, businesses and residents from across the region are expected to come together for the event, which will include refreshments and musical entertainment.

Choirs from St Gregory’s Catholic Science College and Uxendon Manor Primary School will serenade the crowds at the junction of Kenton Road and Woodcock Hill, while Cllr Ajay Maru has the honour of switching on the lights.

The ‘switch on’ is free to attend and takes place at 4pm.
