A man who was fined after he disturbed his neighbours for more than a year with loud music has had his equipment confiscated after he was caught doing it again.

Michael McCatty, of Twickenham Gardens, Harrow Weald, was fined £650 earlier this year after he kept his neighbours up for 16 months by blaring out R&B music.

Environmental officers received dozens of complaints over this period and issued a number of warnings.

McCatty, who insisted that he wasn’t disturbing anyone despite the protests, explained how his hearing loss made it difficult to determine what volume to play his music at.

During his hearing at Willesden Magistrates Court, he said he expected his neighbours to knock on his door if they had an issue, even at 1am.

He added how he would continue to play music at the level which caused so much distress, and now environmental officers have stepped in to remove his electronic equipment.

This included speakers, a stereo, a television, a DVD player and a turntable.

Graham Henson, responsible for the environment at Harrow Council, said: “Despite being prosecuted and fined, it didn’t stop him from repeatedly playing music out loud.

“This time enough was enough - we’ve seized his equipment so that the loud music can finally stop.

“We don’t tolerate this type of disgraceful behaviour and complete disregard for neighbours – and we aren’t afraid of doing the same with anyone else who is intent on causing a nuisance for others.”
