Traffic wardens will now be equipped with body cameras as they go about their duties on the streets.
The patrollers – who are tasked with keeping Harrow “clean, safe and green” – will only use the technology if they sense danger or confrontation while working.
Footage from incidents where people display threatening behaviour will be used by the council as evidence to persecute perpetrators.
Harrow Council said that the use of body cameras will give officers confidence to carry out their duties without fear of abuse.
It added that they will act as a deterrent to acts of aggression or verbal and physical abuse towards them.
Cllr Graham Henson, cabinet member for environment, said: “Our enforcement teams play an important role in keeping Harrow clean, safe and green.
“Sometimes they can encounter difficult or confrontational situations and these new measures will help both the public and officers as well as gather evidence for potential prosecutions.”
