The cost of removing large waste items, such as mattresses and white goods, has been reduced.

Harrow Council has “slashed” its prices for the service, with online bookings, weekday options and next-day removal available.

It will take four large items off your hands for £30, while those in residential areas can dispose of eight items for £50. A mattress pick-up service costs £10.

Harrow has had several issues with dumped rubbish over recent months and Council officials have urged residents to think of others when removing their waste.

Cllr Graham Henson, cabinet member for the environment, said: “With our service you’re getting great value for money and the certainty that your waste is being disposed of properly.

“Many people are unaware that when getting rid of waste, they have a legal responsibility to make sure it’s done in the right way – give it to some cash-in-hand, cowboy fly-tipper and you could be in trouble yourself.

“As licenced waste carriers your waste is guaranteed to be disposed of responsibly.”

Collections can be arranged online, with weekend removals and the next-day, ‘premium’ service charged at £20 each.

The Council also offers to clear rooms, sheds and houses at an hourly rate. This can be arranged via an online quote form.

There is also a service which deals with the removal of waste from private alleyways for a fee of £250 per hour. This fee can be split between neighbours.
