Extra security is predicted during the General Election counts tonight after campaigning was blighted by two tragic terror attacks.

Prime Minister Theresa May called for a snap election on April 18 despite months of repeatedly ruling out the possibility.

However, during the seven week lead up, a suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande gig at Manchester Arena killed 23 people on May 22.

A couple of weeks later, another attack on London Bridge and Borough Market has so far killed eight people.

The incidents resulted in parliamentary candidates pausing their election campaigns as a "mark of respect" and now there is expected to be extra viligence as voters take to the polls.
