A half-marathon is set to return to the borough after a 15 year hiatus.

Harrow Athletics Club have announced that the 13.1 mile race will take place Sunday September 17.

The route will start and finish in the playing fields of Harrow School, in Harrow-on-the-Hill.

Participants will also run past a number of historic landmarks including Headstone Manor, Pinner Park Farm, and the Harrow Recreation Ground, which also holds the weekly 5km parkrun race.

Gareth Thomas, who is standing to be re-elected as the Labour and Co-operative Party candidate for Harrow West, has given his support to the athletics club.

He said: "A lot of work has been carried out since I first approached Harrow Athletics Club to see how we could restart the Harrow Half Marathon last year. I'm delighted this has all paid off.

“It promises to be a great family day out, and an opportunity to show off all of the wonderful bits of Harrow.

“I'm going to have to dust off my running shoes and try and fit in some training sessions in between campaigning."
