Teenager stabbed to death in broad daylight named

A teenager who was stabbed to death in broad daylight was named locally.

Abdullahi Tarabi collapsed in an alleyway after being chased by two people at around 3.30pm on Tuesday, April 11.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service to Newnham Close, in Northolt, where they found the 19-year-old victim with stab wounds in his stomach.

Neighbours are distressed over “horrendous” plans to build 1,150 homes on an old factory site.

Barratt London has teamed up with the Hyde Group to develop the 30 acre former Kodak Industrial Complex in Harrow and Wealdstone, which is also known as Harrow View East.

This week they unveiled their intentions for the site, which they gained outline planning permission by the council in October 2016.

The developers plan to build 1,150 new homes, as well as 350,000 sq ft employment space, senior living facilities, a community centre and leisure uses.

Dodgy landlord busted for converting shed into home without permission

A dodgy landlord has been busted for converting a shed into a home without getting planning permission.

Harrow Council discovered on Thursday, March 30 that the owner had turned their rear extension into a living area with a bed, kitchen and bathroom.

They have been asked to stop using their shed in this way but if they fail to do so by April 24, formal notice will be served to them.

Man found guilty after 'vulnerable' 22-year-old woman sexually assaulted on bus

A man was found guilty of sexually assaulting a “vulnerable” 22-year-old woman on a bus.

Tharmalingam Sivagaran, from Harrow, was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday, 11 April, after being found guilty of inappropriately touching a woman, following a three day trial.

The 40-year-old was sentenced to a 12 month community order and 150 hours of unpaid work, and was ordered to pay £750.00 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

He will also be placed on the sex offender's register for five years.

10 members of staff at Harrow Council revealed to be earning more than £100,000

Harrow Council says it has reduced the wages of senior managers - but 10 members of staff still earn more than £100,000.

The TaxPayer’s Alliance compiled a Town Hall Rich List which showed the annual remuneration of local authority employees across the country.

In the last financial year, Harrow Council paid 10 members of staff £100,000 or more, which is down from 18 in 2014-15.

But the council said they have been making “significant” savings to ensure taxpayers’ money goes into funding services in the area rather than on wages.
