People lined the streets of Pinner to mark the beginning of the holiday season.

On Thursday November 24, Harrow’s Christmas lights in Bridge Street were officially turned on by Harrow Mayor Cllr Rekha Shah.

Shops in Pinner had been busy decorating their front windows, in time for the best dressed window competition.

The three shops that won joint first prize were TA Ellements in Bridge Street, Robsons in High Street and My Dream Kitchen in Marsh Road.

Miss Middlesex made a guest appearance at Eyesey Eyecare in Bridge Street, and local restaurants and cafes stayed open to serve food.

Fairground rides were set up for children, and families enjoyed a performance from the Merrydown Morris dancers, and the evening ended with a fireworks display in Pinner Memorial Park.

The Pinner Association also sponsored the Traders’ Fancy Dress Competition.

Three prizes of £75 each were awarded to Pink and Rose in Bridge Street; Andrew Pearce in Chapel Lane and Visage in High Street.

Organisers thanked the Pinner and Northwood Business Club and all the Pinner businesses which sponsored the event.

Thanks were also given to Harrow Mayor Cllr Rehka Shah, for judging the decorated windows and the fancy dress competition.
