Plans to upgrade Edgware bus station are underway and will include improved facilities for commuters.

The work on the building in Station Road began on September 19 and will take eight weeks to complete.

The bus station is located behind the station, it has five stands and people can travel as far as Watford and Borehamwood.

TfL have said the improvements will include a more even floor surface, more comfortable seating and a new retail unit.

New lighting will be installed to improve the look of the bus station, as a way to make it easily identifiable from Station Road.

Dana Skelley, TfL’s director of asset management, said: "We have started work at Edgware bus station which will improve our customers’ journeys.

"We will also repaint the interior, deep clean the bus station and remove graffiti. All of this will give customers who use the station a greatly improved environment while we consider a major upgrade in the longer term."

The station’s entrance and exit doors were fixed two years ago and remain fully operational and the bus station will stay open during the works with phased closures of areas when required.

TfL added that an upgraded travel information screen is “being considered” as further work to confirm the technical viability of this is ongoing.
