The Childline service is launching its 30 for 30 initiative and calling on Harrow businesses to help.

NSPCC is asking for 30 companies across Harrow to raise £2,000 each so the free 24/7 counselling service can reach even more young people in the area.

To date Childline has helped over 4 million children, but it costs £30,000 a day to run service.

It costs just £4 for a child to speak to a Childline counsellor, and £130 could pay for a Childline supervisor for 24-hours to provide crucial support to the most vulnerable callers.

Since its launch in 1986, Childline has been a place for children to turn to. The most common issues are family relationships, low self-esteem and unhappiness, abuse, bullying and online bullying and self-harm.

Helen Beattie, Childline service manager of London and South East said: "We need to answer every child. That requires more volunteers and more investment so we can grow to meet the demand.

“I hope businesses across Harrow will help us celebrate 30 years of Childline’s vital work, by signing up to our 30 for 30 initiative to help us continue with our work to protect children from pain and save precious young lives.”
