Hundreds of people attended a family fun day on a South Harrow estate at the weekend.

The event, organised by the Grange Farm Steering Group, took place outside the Grange Farm Community Centre on Osmond Close.

Harrow Radio provided the soundtrack on the sunny Saturday afternoon, with a live performance from the Harrovians adding to the musical landscape.

Trampolines, face painting, fun fair games and a bicycle-powered smoothie machine were all enjoyed by the many attendees.

Mayor of Harrow Councillor Rekha Shah gave a speech to the crowd, telling them that she hoped the event would become an annual occurrence.

Ken Woods, steering group chairman, said: “I am really proud of the community for putting on the event, and for how they came together to raise the funding for it.”

Council leader Sachin Shah praised the community for holding the event, saying he “felt proud to be part of such a diverse borough”.

Councillor Glen Hearnden, portfolio holder for housing, said: “The steering group’s hard work and determination definitely paid off, and their goal of bringing this community together is being realised.”

Plans are in place to begin the three-year demolition process of the Grange Farm estate in 2017.
