A 'racist' tag that appeared on a sign in Harrow just days after the EU referendum is actually a tribute to a deceased graffiti artist.
The sign on Pinner Road informs motorists and pedestrians when they are entering North Harrow.
However it has been vandalised, appearing to be sprayed with the word “brown” just before “North Harrow”.
Harrow West MP Gareth Thomas said on Twitter that he was “very concerned” to see the vile daubings, and was working to stop further problems.
However a spokesperson for Harrow Council refuted that unsavoury claim, saying the tag actually says "Browzi" in tribute to a recently deceased graffiti artist.
