Staff and councillors at Harrow Council joined thousands of others who marched at the grand finale of this year’s Pride festival.
Bouncing to the borough’s theme entitled “Celebrating the diversity of Harrow”, the Harrow representatives, including the police, proudly joined in the festivities.
The multicolours of the rainbow vividly dominated the streets of London on Saturday as people from around the world joined in the celebration of unity and tolerance with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Mohammed Ilyas, who leads equality and diversity at Harrow Council, said: “What an electrifying day, and definitely one of the best events in London.
“It might have been fun watching it but being part of the parade was so much better. I was so happy to see the LGBT community come together and see the support we have from people across the country and the world.
“It’s not often that we get to celebrate events like this and seeing the council’s staff and community mark this day is what made it so much more special. It was a great atmosphere which showed nothing but solidarity amongst LGBT communities. I can’t wait to do it again next year.”
