Harrow fire station is opening its doors to the public to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the London Fire Brigade.
The free firefighting birthday party will be held at the Pinner Road station on Saturday, July 2, and forms part of a citywide programme of celebratory activities.
On offer at the event, which runs from 11am until 3pm, will be a host of family firefighting fun and games.
Punters will have the opportunity to see the firefighters of Red Watch in action as they perform a series of drills, and can also pick up some useful lifesaving tips along the way.
Parents and children will be able to see behind the scenes at the station, speak to firefighters, try on the protective gear used by the professionals, and even sit in a real fire engine.
The current fire station in Harrow was built in 1938 to replace the old facility on the High Street.
Firefighters from the station attended the deadly Harrow and Wealdstone rail crash in 1952, which killed 112 people. It remains the worst peace-time rail crash in the country.
