Readers have backed Sadiq Khan to become the next Mayor of London after two days of polling on our websites.
A total of 34 per cent selected the Labour candidate, a narrow lead over Conservative candidate Zac Goldsmith, who scored 31 per cent.
Sian Berry of the Green Party was third most popular on nine per cent, with Peter Whittle of UKIP and Lee Harris of Cannabis is Safer than Alcohol in joint fourth with five per cent.
This pushed the Liberal Democrats, headed by Caroline Pidgeon, down into joint fifth, as she only managed a four per cent share – level with George Galloway.
If these results reflect first preference votes in the official election, then it would require second preference votes to decide who will succeed Boris Johnson as mayor.
Voting closed at 10pm yesterday (May 5), with a winner expected to be announced later on today.
