HANNUKAH celebrations will be held at a shopping centre.

People are invited to The Broadwalk, in Station Road, Edgware, where Rabbi Zalman Sudak, of Lubavitch of Edgware, will be leading the annual celebrations.

At 5pm, he will light the Menorah before leading a celebratory performance of Hannukah songs to signal the start of the eight day Jewish holiday.

Every child attending will receive a free gift and doughnuts, as well as dreidels.

Rabbi Sudak said: “Chanukah is an eight-day spiritual journey. The story of Chanukah is well known to many people but only as a historical pretext to give gifts and eat latkes.

“We can describe that as the body of Chanukah. The soul of Chanukah comes in the form of meditation, joy, warmth and light. Not just in our homes and with our loved ones but with the entire world. It is with this tradition that the Lubavitch of Edgware arranges a public Menorah Lighting at The Broadwalk Centre annually at this time of year.

“It is our dearest wish that by igniting our souls everybody will follow and light the world igniting one candle at a time.”
