CAKES and cookies have been enjoyed across the borough as shops and community groups hosted their own coffee mornings for charity.

Macmillan coffee mornings have been held all across Harrow during the past week as shops, businesses, community groups and friends have come together to help raise money for the cancer charity.

Members of Northwick Park Rotary Club raised nearly £200 as they hosted their own morning in one of their members’ homes in aid of Macmillan nurses.

President elect Eric Silver said: “This event is held all over the country at small and large venues, and in people’s homes to help raise awareness and collect for this very important cause so that special nurses are able to help more people who are seriously ill.

“Macmillan, who ensure that no one has to face cancer alone, is well understood by several members of the club who have had their own brush with cancer.”

Meanwhile at Harrow on the Hill, Doorstep Pharmacy also hosted their own event, with staff members testing out their baking skills for the fundraiser.
