Students at a special needs school gave a loud cheer as their new minibus was driven in by a former football star.

Both staff and students gathered outside Shaftesbury High School in Headstone Lane, Harrow, last week as they eagerly awaited the delivery of their new minibus.

The new bus had been donated by the Dennis Wise and Frankham Trust, which was founded by ex-Chelsea FC captain Dennis Wise and chairman of Frankham Consultancy Group Steve Frankham.

The delivery also served as a mini reunion, as Mr Wise had previously been taught by Shaftesbury High School headteacher Paul William.

Teacher Mona Tamam said: “The fact our head teacher used to teach Dennis was the irony of this whole story.

“The pupils were really besides themselves to have received a new bus and to have met Dennis in person too.”

The Trust was set up 15 years ago to help raise money for children and adults with disabilities.
