Fundraisers are getting on their bikes to help raise money for a hospital.

Bowel cancer patient Paul Bouscarle has organising his second 'colon challenge' this year, as part of St Mark’s Hospital Foundation’s anniversary celebrations.

The hospital, in Watford Road, Harrow, specialises in treating bowel disorders and the challenge is a 280 mile cycle challenge that follows a intestine-shaped route, starting near Hemel Hempstead and passing through towns and cities of eastern England, including Northampton, Peterborough, Thetford and Bury St Edmunds.

The four day challenge kicks off today, before finishing in London outside Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

The foundation will host a public celebration to mark the end of the challenge at Kings Cross Square on May 30 from 11am to 2pm.

Goody bags will be given to the first 50 people arriving at the event, and there will be a Routemaster bus with information stands about St Mark’s Hospital Foundation - a charitable group that supports the work of the hospital.

There will also be a bowel cancer screening stand to inform the public about the signs of bowel cancer.
