A new campaign is hoping to ensure only rainwater will enter a parkside brook.

Waste from toilets, washing machines and sinks currently runs going straight into the Kenton Brook in Queensbury, harming wildlife in the stream, which runs beside Queensbury Park.

The Only Rain in Rivers campaign is hoping to engage with residents and businesses in the area and help them clean up the park.

Along with making simple changes at home and at work, the campaign asks neighbours to check their properties for misconnected plumbing and to think about what they put down the toilet, the kitchen sink and drains.

Vicky D’Souza, Only Rain in Rivers project co-ordinator, said: “We want people living and working around Queensbury to feel connected to our river and to realise that what they do at home and at work can affect their local environment. Please make your pledge today to show you care about the Kenton Brook."
