Vulnerable people across the borough are being offered free help and support with heating their homes this winter.

Harrow Council has launched the Warm Homes, Healthy People programme to help reduce the impact of cold winter weather on the elderly and the vulnerable.

People will be offered a free visit where they will get free advice about how to lower their energy bills and keep their homes warm.

Councillor Anne Whitehead, the cabinet member for health, said: “With the weather getting colder with freezing temperatures, it is important to protect elderly and vulnerable residents.

“Cold homes pose a health risk and can lead to hospital admissions.

“Over the coming weeks, we will be visiting the elderly and the vulnerable and offering them the support and advice they need from boiler repairs and insulation to help on fuel debt and benefit entitlement.”
