Classmates took to social media to pay tribute to schoolboy Sugenth Jeyakumar.

A Facebook page has been set up in memory of the 14-year-old, who went to Whitmore High School, in Porlock Avenue.

Tributes have poured in from friends and others at the school.

The information about the group said: “Good lad. GREAT LAD. Amazing friend, caring brother and loving son. May you rest in peace - you're now in a better place. Much love.”

Harrow Borough Council has confirmed that a Year 10 pupil at Whitmore High School died after being injured playing football earlier this week.

The pupil was hurt on Tuesday and was taken to hospital where he later died the following day.

The Facebook page has received more than 1,000 likes and there have been more than 200 comments from people paying their respects.

In one message on the page, Jack Dowling said: “RIP brother i miss u man we will never forget u miss u sitting in rmt history and business gone but never forgotten always loved miss u bro.”

In another comment, George Rance said: “R.I.P, everyone's thoughts are with your family and friends.”

Vitushan Lulu Krishnamohan said on the page: “Truly a great lad. Doesn't deserve to have his life taken. R.I.P.”

Colin Gall said on Facebook: “RIP sad news. Lovely guy gone too young.”

In a statement, Whitmore High School headteacher Sue Hammond said: “This young man represented the best in all of us: caring and helpful, bright and hardworking, liked by everyone and with a great future ahead of him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very sad time.”

Harrow Council leader Councillor David Perry said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family following this tragic accident. Harrow Council are doing all we can to support the school community at this difficult time.”
