A new free school that will teach pupils a second language from an early age is in negotiations to find a permanent home.

The group behind Harrow Bilingual Primary School says it is in talks with the Education Funding Agency (EFA) over a site in the heart of Harrow.

Earlier this month the new free school was given the go-ahead by the Department for Education.

It will create a new two-form entry Church of England Primary School teaching French to pupils form an early age.

The school is in partnership with the London Diocesan Board for Schools and will be supported by Holy Trinity CE Primary School in Northwood.

Penny Roberts, development officer for the London Diocesan Board for schools, said: “We are delighted to be working closely with the EFA on securing a site for our school.

“We have identified a number of key sites and hope to reveal more information in the coming months. Property negotiations can be difficult and can take a little time to come to fruition.”

The group hopes that if negotiations go well, the school will be able to open in September 2015.

Daniel Norris, headteacher of Holy Trinity School, said: "We have now held two open days for our school, these have both been well attended.

“We are receiving numerous applications for school places and do encourage parents thinking about our school to apply.

“We do appreciate that parents not knowing our school location can be difficult for them, but we do hope to reveal the location soon.”

Those interested in finding out more about the school can find out more at the next open day opn November 22, from 1.30pm in the Old Harrovian Room in the War Memorial Building, Harrow School.
