A competition to find a good deed for the Times & Independent Series to carry out has been launched.

Staff at the Times Series, Borehamwood Times, Harrow Times, Enfield Independent and Tottenham & Wood Green Independent will all take part in this year’s Mitzvah Day.

The event falls on Sunday, November 16 and encourages people of all faiths to help out at community groups and charities.

Events ranging from giving away your lunch to park clean ups have already been arranged by schools and community groups, but we want to hear what you think our team should do.

Any group, charity or organisation that needs a project completed by volunteers can submit their ideas, which will be judged by a panel including group editor Martin Buhagiar, Hendon MP Matthew Offord and Mitzvah Day founder, Laura Marks.

No matter how dirty or crazy the task, our team will roll up their sleeves and turn out on the day to carry out the deed.

Mitzvah Day founder, Laura Marks, said: “There’s so much that needs doing in our local community, and nominating projects makes such a valuable difference.

“We are excited to be working with the Times & Independent Series. We don’t often think of journalists getting involved, but to see them rolling up their sleeves and taking part is wonderful.

“It’s also a great way to get your project and cause publicised.”

To win a team of volunteers, email your name, project and phone number to aslater@london.newsquest.co.uk by Monday, November 3.
