A supermarket has announced is chosen charity for the year following a public vote.

Sainsbury’s Stanmore branch will be supporting Macmillan Cancer Support until June next year after customers voted for their favourite cause.

For the last year the store in The Broardway raised £6,000 for The Disability Foundation, a charity based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

Throughout the coming months the store will be holding a series of events to raise money for the charity which provides support to those affected by cancer.

Fundraising Manager at Macmillan Carole Heffernan said: “Thank you to all Staff and Customers at Sainsbury’s Stanmore who have chosen to support Macmillan Cancer Support.

“All of us at Macmillan Cancer Support are delighted that you have chosen to support us. With 79 people in London being diagnosed with cancer every day, your help is never needed more.

“Your support means that we can continue to deliver and expand the range of services we offer to people affected by cancer and their families both in the local area and across London.”
