Sixth form pupils say they are now looking to the future after getting their A-level results.

Hundreds of teenagers descended on Hatch End High School, in Headstone Lane, to get their AS and A-level grades and to find out if they will be going on to university.

As with others across Harrow, pupils faced an agonising wait last night before getting their grades this morning.

One of the star pupils from the school was Roland Amoah, who received four A*s and got 100 per cent in his maths and physics results.

The 18-year-old, who will be going to Newcastle University to study medicine, said: “I was quite apprehensive about getting the results.

“Over the past day I haven’t been able to eat properly, but after getting my results I’m looking forward to catching up on my food.

“Most of all I am relieved to get passed this stage, but there is a lot of work ahead and I’m looking forward to university now.”

Peter Choy, 18, got four A*s including maths and further maths and will be going on to study natural sciences at St John’s College, Cambridge.

He said: “I’m so pleased with my results and it is such a relief to get the grades I needed.

“I really want to thank the staff at Hatch End especially my tutor who really pushed me to get the grades I needed.”

Lizzie Tighe, 18, received two A*s and three As including maths, chemistry and biology, and will be going to Bristol University.

She said: “Last night I was feeling a lot of stress and thought I had failed everything. But it was great to finally get my results.

“I am looking forward now to university but I will look back fondly at my time at Hatch End High.”

Asif Mahmood got top grades in his AS results, despite getting appendicitis during his exams and having to sit one of his papers in hospital.

The 17-year-old said: “I was a bit disappointed with some of the results but I think I have a really good foundation for the next year to get the best results possible.

“When I got ill it was really tough especially having to an exam in hospital. Now I'm going to concentrate on the next step and moving forward.”

Headteacher Sue Maguire said: “We are delighted that so many of your young people have deservedly gained access to the very best universities.

“This is testament to their sheer hard work and commitment and of course their teachers’ superb teaching over the last two years.

“I would like to thank personally all our staff for their dedication and always going the extra mile.”
